Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has claimed that he has no intention of re-appointing Jose Mourinho as manager in the future.
The Portuguese coach spent three years at the Bernabeu, but in his final season in charge, had bust-ups with Sergio Ramos and former goalkeeper Iker Casillas.
The 52-year-old, who returned to Chelsea in 2013, also upset the Spanish media and supporters in his final days in La Liga.
“I have no intention of re-signing him [Mourinho], although he did give us an important step up in terms of quality,” Perez told Cadena COPE. “Before him, we struggled to make it past the last 16 in Europe and that wasn’t good enough.”
Rafael Benitez was appointed as team boss in the summer, replacing Carlo Ancelotti, and Perez added that the Spaniard is the “best coach I’ve ever had”.
So far this season in La Liga, Madrid have drawn one game and secured one victory.
