Real Madrid have started checking the transfer market in order to improve their squad. Florentino Perez knows the squad needs to be renovated, and there will be some big incomings and outgoings. One of those could be Andriy Yarmolenko.
The Ukrainian is a player that Barcelona were tracking but have discarded for now, looking for a centre-forward. Los Blancos have got in touch with the player’s people to find out his availability. He has three important offers from the Premier League, but he’d like to move to Spain – and Barcelona are his priority.
The player has come on a lot in the last few months and, without doubt, is the finest Ukrainian footballer around. He has a great capacity to overload defences and unbalance them, as well as being an efficient goalscorer from the flank.
He will cost around €25m, but Madrid are aiming to pay less. And Dinamo Kiev, his club, will not make it easy to sign him – especially given they have reached the latter stages of the Champions League.
Yarmolenko could take James Rodriguez’s place – a talented footballer, but the management and board are losing patience with his behaviour. They were unahppy he came back late ahead of the Clasico because of advertising commitments in South America.
