Karim BenzemaandReal Madridhave publicly expressed their understanding with regard to the French Football Federation’s decision to suspend the forward until such time as the 27-year-old’s alleged part in a blackmail and sex-tape case involving international teammate Mathieu Valbuena is resolved.
Upon being informed of the news, Benzema took to Twitter to express his respect for the decision, which was taken by the president of theFrench Federation, Noël Le Graët.
Meanwhile Real Madrid published a press release in which they stated their acceptance of the move, whilst at the same time expressing their regret. The statement to come out of the Bernabéu served to once again underline that Benzema remains central to the club’s plans:
“Real Madrid C. F. regrets but respects the decision taken today by the French Football Federation to provisionally suspend Karim Benzema from the France national team, and wishes to once again reiterate its support for and confidence in the player”.
